Deployment
Pick your deployment method. Each option uses the same core installer, only the delivery mechanism differs.
Choose a deployment method
1. Open Group Policy Management Console
Start → Administrative Tools → Group Policy Management
2. Create or edit a GPO
Right-click the OU containing target computers → Create a GPO / Edit an existing GPO
3. Navigate to Registry Preferences
Computer Configuration → Preferences → Windows Settings → Registry
4. Create the Registry Item
- Action: Create (or Update)
- Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Key Path: SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Texthelp\Read&Write
- Value Name: ProductCode
- Value Type: REG_SZ
- Value Data: [YOUR PRODUCT CODE]
5. Apply & Enforce
Link the GPO to the required OU. Registry key applies at next reboot or GPO refresh
Note: MSI parameters cannot be passed directly via standard GPO deployments. use a startup script or PowerShell instead
Push via GPO, Intune, SCCM, PDQ or any script-execution tool:
Execution notes:
- Run as SYSTEM or Administrator
- Script is safe for repeated execution (idempotent)
1. Create a PowerShell Script policy
Intune Admin Center → Devices → Scripts → Add → Windows PowerShell Script
2. Upload the script from option 2
3. Configure:
- Run using logged-on credentials: No
- Run in 64-bit PowerShell: Yes
4. Assign to appropriate device groups
Create a .reg file:
Deploy using:
1. Sign in to admin.google.com as a super admin
2. Go to Devices → Chrome → Apps & Extensions
3. Approve Read&Write as a third-party app for your Workspace domain
4. Add the Read&Write extension by ID and select Force install
5. Apply to the appropriate OU and save
MSI parameters
Pass these to the installer with msiexec /i ReadWrite.msi PARAM=value or via your deployment tool's MSI parameter field.

Validating your activation
Once deployed, verify activation on a test endpoint:
- Sign in to Read&Write with a managed user account.
- Confirm the toolbar shows all licensed tools, premium features (e.g. Talk & Type, Translator) only appear when the product code is set correctly.
- Open the Admin Tool and confirm the seat usage updates after sign-in.

Optional. They're bundled in the installer and installed automatically when FEAT_CHROME_EXT and FEAT_EDGE_EXT are set to 1 (the default).
No. AutoCorrect is now part of the Read&Write installer.
This version installs AutoCorrect as part of the Read&Write installer. Any previously installed version will be removed automatically. However, the old version may still appear in Add/Remove Programs - we recommend uninstalling AutoCorrect manually before deploying.
Yes, for initial installation. Once installed, end users don't need admin rights to use Read&Write.
Yes. Read&Write supports all major deployment platforms - Group Policy, SCCM, Intune, PDQ, Jamf, Kandji and Mosyle.
No. Any changes in the Read&Write application config file will need to be reapplied once the new installer is used.
