How to access Read&Write for Google Chrome

This guide will help you launch Read&Write, sign in, and make sure everything is set up correctly in Google Chrome so you can start using the toolbar straight away.

Launch Read&Write

To start using Read&Write:

1. Click the Extensions (puzzle piece) icon in the top-right corner of Google Chrome
2. Look for Read&Write in the list of extensions
3. Click the Read&Write icon to launch the toolbar

Tip:
Click the pin icon to keep Read&Write visible in your browser for quick access

Sign in and grant permissions

Some tools require you to sign in the first time you use them.

1. Click on a Read&Write tool
2. Select your Google account
3. Click Allow to grant permissions

You only need to do this once

If you cancel this step, you’ll be asked again the next time you try to use the tool.

Turn on sync (if you can’t see extensions)

If Read&Write isn’t visible in your browser:

1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome
2. Select Settings
3. Click Turn on Sync
4. Select Yes, I’m in

Your extensions should now appear in the toolbar.

Troubleshooting

I don’t see the Read&Write toolbar

→ Check the extension is installed and pinned

I can’t sign in

→ Make sure you’re using your school or educator account

Permissions didn’t appear

→ Click the tool again to trigger the sign-in prompt
