Introduction

Welcome to the Positivity Educator Implementation Guide. The guide does not need to be completed in a single session; you are welcome to pause and return at any time to fit your schedule and learning needs. Educators who actively engage with the practice opportunities, interactive activities, and reflection prompts will gain the greatest benefit from the experience.

What is Positivity?

Positivity is an integrated behavioral management platform designed to foster student independence and self-regulation.  By offering a flexible, research-based approach, Positivity shifts classrooms away from rigid behavior management models, allowing educators to seamlessly embed support into daily instruction and maximize learning time.

Positivity is designed to save educators time by significantly reducing the hours spent correcting problem behaviors and manually recording data. By equipping students with the tools they need to stay calm, on task, and in charge of their emotions, Positivity helps build a safer, more positive, and growth-oriented classroom environment.

Proactive behavior support for every classroom

  • Behavior tracking: The platform features a Core Behavior Profile that helps IEP teams identify a student's strengths, target specific behaviors for intervention, and generate personalized strategy suggestions. Positivity simplifies tracking by allowing educators to quickly record student achievements and incidents in real time, generating comprehensive reports that inform data-driven decisions.
  • Visual schedules: To help students navigate their daily routines, Positivity allows educators to create flexible, visual schedules. These schedules help classrooms stay organized, maximize instructional time, and reduce student anxiety when unexpected changes happen during the school day.
  • Strategy library: Educators can access a robust library of over 200 pre-made, customizable strategy templates, including social narratives, decision trees, video modeling, and incentive charts. These tools can be assigned to the whole classroom or on an individual basis to proactively teach appropriate behaviors, decision-making skills, and social interactions.
  • On-demand experience: This feature provides just-in-time support, allowing educators to instantly deliver strategies - such as a calming breath exercise or a break card - at the exact moment a student needs to refocus or self-regulate. This immediate delivery helps reinforce prosocial behaviors and redirect interfering ones without disrupting ongoing instruction.
